Air India sparks outrage by serving only vegetarian meals in economy

AN AIRLINE has sparked un uproar with its decision to serve only vegetarian meals in economy class.
Air India said this week it was switching to a vegetarian menu for economy passengers on all Indian domestic flights in a bid to cut costs and reduce food waste.
Many people in Hindu-majority India are vegetarians, but many minority groups, including Indian Muslims, do eat meat.
So the flag carrier’s decision has been accused of being discriminatory — and some people suspect it is part of wave of Hindu nationalism in India.

Among the many venting outrage on social media, prominent chef and food writer Madhu Menon tweeted: “Only veg food on Air India. Next, flight attendants to speak only Hindi. After that, stand for national anthem before flight takeoff.”
Another person suggested Sanghis, supporters of the right-wing, Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, were behind the decision.

Rajshahi History Rajshahi district was a part of the Pundra region of ancient  Bengal .
