The prime minister has inaugurated the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jessore to spread the benefits of developments in the ICT sector to Bangladesh’s southwestern region. The Tk 3.05 billion project was launched by Sheikh Hasina via video conference from the Ganabhaban on Sunday. Software development, call centre services, freelancing and research and development work will be conducted at the park, said project director Joint Secretary Jahangir Alam. The park will create jobs for 5,000 young people in the ten districts of the Khulna division. Construction work on the project began on 232,000 sq ft of land in Bejpura’s Shankarpur area on April, 2014.
